Offensive

If someone told you the sky was red and green stripes with sprinkles on it, you'd be correct to label them stupid, insane or perhaps both and no one would disagree.

Yet, when someone makes an equally as ignorant statement regarding politics and you point out their stupidity or insanity it is a whole other issue.

When it's politics you're labeled 'offensive' or 'racist' or some other incendiary word. And this is something very troublesome to me.

You see, in this great country everyone has a right to their own opinion in politics, even if it's wrong, stupid, ignorant and without any basis in reality. I respect that 'right'. But I don't have to respect their ignorant positions or opinions though. And that is where the trouble lies.

When I point out to my left leaning friends the inaccuracies of their logic or prove them wrong, most of them whine and scream like little 3 yr olds. They call me offensive, racists, hateful etc.

Then they tell me they have the RIGHT to their opinion.

Well, if you're opinion is that 2 + 2 = 7, well I'm sorry,,, ,you're stupid. That's not an opinion,,, that's called being wrong.

And most of them just can't accept that they're wrong.

Very sad!!

Very true! If Democrats were allowed to have opinions about Bush without being called idiots, etc., Republicans should be able to have their opinions about Obama and not be given grief for them, either!

I agree with you on some of the things you're saying some of it doesn't work together. There is a VERY important distinctions that you are blurring between Matters of taste and opinion, Matters of Fact, and Matters of Necessity. While you are right that there is a very clear right and wrong with matters of fact (sky is red and green) and matters of necessity (2+2=7) the same can not be said for politics because it is almost always a matter of taste or opinion. Because politics are so rooted in taste and opinion, telling someone they're wrong about their political ideals is like telling someone whose favorite color is blue that they're wrong just because your favorite color is yellow.

Jordon, you're missing the point.

A Custodial Engineer may make someone sound important, but they're still a janitor.

If someone wants to end a little babies life inside their mothers womb and call it a woman's right, it's still murder. A human life was taken just as if I'd shot someone with a gun. Just because someone Opinion or Taste doesn't agree, doesn't change that it's murder.

Same with political 'opinions'. They are always based on something concrete and therefore can be proven accurate or inaccurate.

For example: Obama is the MOST inexperienced, incapable, untested, unproven President in American history. He had no business running for office, much less getting elected. This isn't opinion, it is fact. Yet, when I point this out to my left leaning friends I'm called racist. They start talking Bush. Start talking Nixon. They never address the merits of my logic, which is Obama never being fit for office. Why? Because they can't argue the point. It's true.
